ELOCUTION COMPETITION

Khushi Bhatia of Class 5 bagged the first position in Group A and Yash Jaiswal of class 12 won the Consolation Prize in Group D in the KSS Interschool Elocution. Competition.
Elocution refers to one’s capacity of communicating with others, with the use of exact speech and gestures. It is natural for parents to want their children to speak exceptionally well in school and other places. Keeping this in mind and to enhance oratory skills of students the ‘Inter House English Elocution Competition’ was conducted at The Jain International School on Saturday, 26th July 2014.
The competition was conducted under three Groups – A, B and C in which two contestants each from all the four houses participated from classes 1 to 12.
The topics were as follows:
Group A Poems
Group B Inspirational Speeches of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
Barak Obama and Sarojini Naidu
Group C Speeches and Dialogues from Shakespearean Plays
All participants performed exceptionally well winning accolades for their house. A healthy competitive spirit enlightened the faces of the students as they marched off to the podium for the competition. We had students competing against each other keeping in mind several factors which were adjudged during the competition. The children focused on aspects like culmination of voice quality, speech content and the delivery standards.
The competition enabled our students to speak with more clarity and finesse and it surely was an enjoyable experience for all those who participated.
Judges for the event were Mrs Rekha Singh, Mrs Surabhi Mehrotra and Ms Nargis Kapoor.
Winning the competition was a matter of honour and pride not only for the individual participants but also for the houses that won.
The event was culminated with words of encouragement by the Vice Principal followed by the result which was as follows:-
