SPIC MACAY is an affirmation of a priceless cultural heritage. It seeks to conserve and promote an awareness of the rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry amongst the youth of our country through focus on classical arts, with their attendant legends and philosophy and to facilitate an awareness of their deeper and subtler values. It a solid value-based education, which involves the absorption of aesthetics and spirituality in an increasingly technical, mundane and competitive world. Thus its work is educational in spirit and character and locates itself largely in educational institutions.

SPIC MACAY runs on the energy of volunteers who come from all walks of life - students, teachers, housewives, professional and retired people, young and old. Nishkam Seva is a key aspect of the movement.

The Jain International School, Kanpur, is associated with SPIC MACAY and is continuously endeavouring for the holistic development of its students. To give to our young generation all that is beautiful, lofty and wholesome, a gem from the Indian Classical world -  Percussionist Unmesh Banerjee and Padma Shri Ustaad Shakir Khan visited The Jain International school on Thursday, 25^th April, 2019. The duet of Unmesh Banerjee and Shakir Khan mesmerized the audience with their vigorous and graceful rendition. They were able to cast a spell on his audiences, orthodox or progressive, with flashes of brilliance and his uncanny ability to strike a rapport with the audiences transcending all age barriers.

The Guest artists were given a warm welcome by the Principal Mr M.K.Panda and Headmistress Little Champs Mrs. Rekha Singh, and Headmistress Senior School Mrs. Deepa Singh. The programme commenced with the auspicious ceremony of lightning of the lamp by the esteemed guests. Thereby the ensemble took their places on the stage for their melodious performance.

Respected Principal Sir and Headmistress Ma’am felicitated the guests with a token of appreciation from the TJIS Family. In his address, Sir paid gratitude to the team for their benign presence and scintillating performance and urged the students to respect and preserve their culture and heritage.
